Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged three motorists with impaired driving-related offences following separate incidents.
On August 27, 2026, at approximately 8:35 p.m., officers from the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint in the area of Elizabeth Street in the Town of Orangeville. The caller reported concerns that the driver may have been impaired and was operating the vehicle in an unsafe manner.
Officers attended the area and located the vehicle. During their interaction with the driver, officers initiated an impaired driving investigation.
As a result of the investigation, Bhupinder SINGH, a 56-year-old male from Orangeville, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Dangerous operation
- Possess more than one licence
On August 29, 2026, at approximately 1:51 p.m., officers from the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint in the area of 20 Sideroad and Highway 10 in the Town of Mono.
Officers located the vehicle at a retail market on Highway 10. Officers approached the vehicle and attempted to speak with the driver. During their interaction with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment and initiated an impaired driving investigation.
As a result of the investigation, Elizabeth MERANTE, a 62-year-old female from Mono, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
On August 30, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers from the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program in the area of Broadway and Third Street in the Town of Orangeville when a vehicle entered the RIDE program.
During their interaction with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment and initiated an impaired driving investigation.As a result of the investigation, Hunter MINNS, a 22-year-old male from Amaranth, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
- Driver – fail to properly wear seat belt
The accused individuals are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville at a later date to answer to the charges.
