Peel Region is getting more than $103 million to support refugees.

Peel regional council received a letter from the minister of immigration, refugees and citizenship (IRCC), Lena Metlege Diab, confirming that the region will receive more than $103.4 million for its Interim Housing Assistance Program (IHAP) between 2025 and 2027.

The federal government will provide initial funding of approximately $70 million for the program.  Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon will share this funding to relieve the pressure on local shelters and support immediate housing needs for newly arrived refugees in the region.
