Orangeville Transit is set to make changes to several bus stops this June as part of its regular service review.
The Town says the updates were informed by feedback from riders, seniors, and drivers, along with findings from a recent accessibility audit. In total, four stops on the Blue route and seven stops on the Orange route will be adjusted to improve safety, accessibility, and overall service efficiency in Orangeville.
Here’s what to expect:
Blue route:
- removing the stop at Orange Street and Quarry Gates
- removing the stop at Orange Street and Townline
- adding a stop at Chisholm Street and Alexander Street
- adding a stop at B Line and Hunter Road (southern leg)
Orange route:
- reintroducing the stop on Broadway at John Street
- removing the stop at Clara Street and Elizabeth Street
- moving the stop at First Street and Fairgrounds Plaza (northbound) to in front of Swiss Chalet (the stop is currently at the Mad Hatter)
- moving the stop at Fieldgate and College Ave to 25 metres east of Fieldgate Drive on College Avenue
- adding a stop on First Street at Fairgrounds Plaza outside of Mary Browns (southbound)
- moving the stop at Elizabeth Street and First Street across road to the front of the 1 Elizabeth Street medical building
Officials note that while not all public requests can be accommodated, each suggestion is carefully reviewed. The exact date the changes will take effect is expected to be confirmed before the end of May.
