Dufferin OPP recently successfully located a missing elderly female using Project Lifesaver.
On March 24th, at around 3:00 p.m., Dufferin officers responded to Hornings Mills in Melancthon after receiving a call regarding an elderly female who had not returned home after going for a walk. The individual is a registered participant in the Project Lifesaver program.
Officers quickly deployed Project Lifesaver tracking equipment and were able to locate the individual safe and well approximately two kilometres from her residence, within one hour of being reported missing.
This incident highlights the effectiveness of Project Lifesaver and its critical role in safeguarding vulnerable members of our community.
Each participant is provided with a bracelet that emits a unique radio frequency signal. If a participant goes missing, OPP officers use dedicated equipment to track the signal and locate the individual quickly.
Project Lifesaver continues to be a valuable resource in Dufferin County, offering peace of mind to families and enhancing community safety. The program is administered by Caledon Meals on Wheels and is generously supported by the Orangeville Lions Club, helping ensure accessibility for residents in need.
