On October 24th, shortly before 2:30 p.m., Dufferin County OPP were conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 10 in Melancthon when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver passed another vehicle on the shoulder, lost control, and crossed over the highway, coming to rest on the front lawn of a nearby residence.
On impact, the vehicle caught fire. The 36-year-old male driver was taken into custody at the scene and transported to a local hospital as a precaution.
