Dufferin OPP has concluded its Easter long weekend seatbelt campaign, with officers laying a total of 260 charges across Dufferin County.
The campaign ran from April 3 to April 6, with officers conducting proactive traffic enforcement and maintaining a strong presence on local roadways to promote safety. While the primary focus was on seatbelt compliance, enforcement efforts extended to a variety of traffic-related offences.
Distracted Driving – 3
Seatbelt – 26
Speeding – 116
Stunt Driving – 5
Impaired Driving – 5
Other miscellaneous offences – 105
The results of the campaign indicate that some drivers and passengers continue to neglect wearing seatbelts. Buckling up takes only a few seconds and significantly increases the likelihood of surviving a collision.
