A micro-transit pilot project could be the new form of public transportation in Bolton and Mayfield West as well as extend service to Caledon East.
Residents in these three communities will use an app or phone-booking service to request rides within the service area in fully electric minibuses run by Argo Transit.
A staff recommendation for a 15-month pilot with Argo was unanimously approved by the town’s general committee on April 7. If ratified by council at the end of the month, the new on-demand model would start on Oct. 1 and run through Dec. 31, 2027, with the option of extending it to the end of 2028.
Staff said these current fixed-route options create “some service gaps” within the areas they serve and do not provide connectivity between the three communities.
