Members of the Major Crime Unit (MCU) from the Caledon Detachment of the OPP have laid numerous charges against two individuals following a recent warrant execution.
On February 6th, at about 2:00 p.m., Caledon OPP officers responded to a report of a residential house fire in the area of Mount Wolfe Road and Old Church Road, in Caledon. Members of Caledon Fire and Emergency Services attended the scene and extinguished the fire. No injuries were sustained as a result of the fire.
The fire was deemed suspicious and members of the Caledon MCU entered into an investigation.
On February 13th, a search warrant was executed on a dwelling in Caledon and evidence supporting the investigation was seized.
As a result, two individuals were arrested and charged.
A 42 year old male and a 47 year old male from Caledon have both been charged with arson.
The accused parties are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on May 7th.
