A 23-year-old Orangeville resident is facing impaired driving charges after being stopped at a R.I.D.E. check in Adjala-Tosorontio Township.
Nottawasaga OPP say the incident happened shortly before 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 14th, when officers were conducting the roadside spot check on County Road 14. During the stop, police formed grounds to believe the driver’s ability to operate a vehicle was impaired by alcohol, leading to an arrest.
The individual has been charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on October 16th. Their driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.
Police remind the public that impaired driving remains a serious risk on Ontario roads. Anyone who suspects a driver may be impaired is urged to call 9-1-1 immediately or submit a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
