Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses after a fatal motor vehicle collision in the City of Vaughan.
On Saturday, August 2nd shortly before 11 p.m., police responded to a two-vehicle collision involving two sport utility vehicles at the intersection of Highway 27 and Rutherford Road.
One SUV had immediately caught fire after the collision, but fortunately all passengers were able to exit the vehicle.
Despite life saving efforts, a rear passenger of the second involved SUV, a 69-year-old woman from Vaughan was pronounced deceased on scene.
Ten other people were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, and to anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area around the time of the collision, to please come forward.
